Carey, who stands nearly 5'10, was once a leading American models for fashion. Designers of the top calibre, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren liked her. Her father, an accomplished scientist who won the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of the Year award is a renowned scientist. The father of Carey was a scientist who travelled the globe as a part of his profession. While she attended an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. A representative of Ford model agency in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. In the year 1980, she emigrated to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris and Bordeaux and then returned in New York in order to pursue the modeling profession. The model was featured on Vogue and Glamour pages. While modeling she also studied literature full time in New York University. Following a few years she began to develop an interest in acting. She studied at Neighborhood Playhouse New York. In 1986 she began her career on stage with a small character as a minor character in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include skiing, white-water rafting, rock climbing, and wind-surfing.
